Simon is currently the CEO of Mission, a leading public cloud consulting and managed services company. Prior to Mission, he was CEO of DreamHost, a US-based web hosting and cloud services company with a super technical team and open source culture, plus over 400,000 customers and 1.5 million sites, blogs and apps hosted. DreamHost delivers its services to entrepreneurs and developers worldwide leveraging and contributing to open source software platforms like Linux, OpenStack, Ceph, and WordPress. Simon also co-founded and Chaired the Board of Inktank Storage, a startup founded in early 2012 to develop Ceph open source distributed storage software and deliver support and services for enterprises wanting to implement it for public and private clouds. Inktank was acquired by Red Hat in April 2014 for $175MM, and will become a core platform in Red Hat's storage business unit. DreamHost is Simon's 5th executive role at a Web infrastructure start-up or growth venture in the US. He came over to running things from the dark side of venture capital investing in the early 2000's, where he'd been poached from his calling as a weekend surf lifesaver in Sydney, Australia. He now lives in Los Angeles where everyone wants to live, although nobody wants to admit it.
